8 Examples of “Coming Soon Pages”
We have several new projects under the hood here at Chama, and since each are in development mode, we decided to put our own “coming soon pages” for a few of them, instead of the standard default domain “holding” pages.
There are many advantages to having a proper “coming soon page”, the main reason is for their search engine friendliness. Since a domain’s age is one of the many factors Google uses in its algorithms, a coming soon page is a good way to mark your presence early on, while you’re working on your site behind the scene. It also looks better and more professional than the cookie cutter holding page. (And note we’re not referring to the dot com under construction holding pages)
A few other reasons to use “coming soon pages”:
* builds trust with almighty Google
* creates buzz … i.e. in the case of silverbackapp.com
* gets volunteers to help you beta test the site/app
* allows early birds to sign up for an email alert when the project goes live
So now your convinced and ready to see some great examples of “coming soon” pages, right? Well not so fast, we did some digging and sorry to say, there isn’t a much out there. This may in part, be due to the fact there’s no place to archive these pages, so all this “coming soon” inspiration may just be falling into a digital black hole. But alas, necessity is the mother of invention so we’ve put together this starter post, and created a public Flickr Group to serve as creative juice for all, and in hopes designers and creative types will share their best examples.
Here are 4 Examples of “Coming Soon” pages we did find:
{1} silverbackapp.com
The design of this page is unbelievable and I love the simplicity. First seen on the Andy Budd’s blog.
{2} adegga.com
I dug this one from the net’s archive pages, the play on the branding tone from the guys at adegga.com is great.
{3} Hema.nl

Takes a few seconds to start, but cool effect using flash. The holding page is live at the time of writing this post.
{4} aka.jp
Interesting. Thanks to “threeminds” for sharing this. Click here to view. You’ll want to have your speakers turned on.
{5} sosoher.com
Great way to build up anticipation for a new project launch.
And the following are Chama related projects:
{6} filmz.pt
Filmz.pt is a Chama project in collaboration with Chief Bakery Geek and currently in stealth mode.To be continued…
This is a Chama client project, which will be launching very soon.

Thanks for the mention of Adegga.com! In terms of design I must say I love the mosesmehraban.com one. It makes me want to touch it!
You welcome Andre and thx for the feedback on mosesmehraban.com : )
Hi Moses and Eddie,
Hoping youll add us to your list
We think a big percentage of the success of a web start up “among many others” is based on traffic. Sososher is at the beginning stages of design and construction – so we thought rather than do a Beta or Soft launch, we would start to generate traffic BEFORE the website has actually been launched.
Rather than having a static holding page, we have designed an interactive Dynamic Flash Holding Page (in the style of a News Reporters desk) to gain user interest. Features include a News Letter sign up, playable MP3, an iPhone with a countdown timer – informing you of the launch date, links to our Face Book Fan Page and MySpace page, a flash puzzle - as and when there are further developments and the launch date gets nearer the hand will place another piece of the jigsaw on the desk, slowly revealing what Sososher is all about “creating an air of mystery” and enticing the user to regularly check back at www.sososher.com to see more of the puzzle being revealed.
The strap lines that we use are:-
• The way you shop online is about to change
• What a refreshing change to static holding pages………….
• Sososher – it’s a bit of a tongue twister isn’t it “try saying it three times in a row”. Now you’ve heard the name, you’re going to have to find out what it means.
Hi Lauren, thanks for sharing with us sosoher.com’s cool ‘coming soon’ page. Love the interactivity and the concept behind the teaser. You certainly grabbed my curiosity - signed up for your newsletter. Great job!
Hi Moses,
Thanks for signing up to our news letter and the compliment on the Holding Page “the best is yet to come”.
